Now, as sky-rocketing numbers of tourists set sail for Croatia, there has never been more appetite among its descendants to rediscover their Croatian roots. And rediscovering it they are.

OUR STORY
Beyond the borders of Croatia, lies a thriving Diaspora that wishes to rediscover their roots
Nathalia Močivuna founded Salona Consulting in 2016 in Zagreb, using as a start point her own experience of becoming a Croatian citizen by descent. She is also part of the Croatian Diaspora and arrived in Zagreb in 2014, to learn more about the Homeland of her ancestors. Nathalia was warmly welcomed by the Croatian people as truly one of their own and decided to do the inverse path of her ancestors by building her life in Croatia.
Realizing that many Croatian descendants may struggle to find the correct information and assistance to claim their Croatian citizenship by descent, Nathalia started Salona Consulting with a mission to assist other members of the Croatian Diaspora and allow them to rediscover their Croatian roots the same way she did. Although she is an engineering major from the University of Zagreb, history has since always been her passion and she has built her family tree on the island of Korčula since the 17th century.
Nathalia has so far assisted members of the Croatian Diaspora from South Africa, Canada, Argentina, Brazil, United States of America, Chile, Ecuador, Ireland, New Zealand, Paraguay, Australia and United Kingdom to claim their Croatian citizenship by descent. She takes great pride and pleasure in the knowledge that her work is a way of honoring all the Croatian immigrants that left Croatia to find a better life so far from their Homeland.
Fluent in Croatian, English, Portuguese and Spanish (Swiss German is on the way!), she now lives in Switzerland with her Croatian-born husband, from where she runs Salona Consulting. Nathalia visits Croatia every month for business purposes and spends every summer on the beautiful Croatian Adriatic coast.

Due to the intricate history of Croatia, many descendants don’t realize they are eligible to the Croatian citizenship. Most descendants also don’t know the Croatian language and are not aware of the process requirements, which can make it difficult to go through the process of claiming the Croatian citizenship for themselves and for their families. It can also be intimidating to deal with all the paperwork and bureaucracy related to obtaining the Croatian citizenship.
Children, grandchildren and even great-grandchildren of Croatians can have the privilege of being a Croatian citizen, and can do so as a way to preserve their ancestors’ history by rekindling the cultural customs that have faded over the past generations.
