Every connection to Croatia starts with a story.
Salona Consulting was born from a personal journey of rediscovery – and a belief that Croatian heritage should never feel out of reach. Today, we help members of the Croatian diaspora around the world explore what that heritage means for them and their families.

Introducing Salona Consulting
Salona Consulting is a company specializing in Croatian ancestry research, citizenship applications and post-citizenship services for individuals and families worldwide. Founded in 2016 and incorporated as a limited-liability company in 2022, the company is based in Switzerland, where its team members work together from dedicated offices in Lucerne.
An estimated four million people of Croatian ancestry live beyond Croatia’s borders. For some, their heritage remains part of everyday life through language, traditions and family ties. For others, it survives in a last name, a few treasured documents or stories passed down through generations.
Wherever that journey begins, we provide clear guidance and structured support—from researching family history and preparing citizenship applications to navigating the steps after citizenship is granted. Our approach combines personal understanding of the journey with professional expertise and careful attention to each client’s documents and circumstances.
Our Founder’s Story
A personal journey. A shared purpose.
Born in São Paulo, Brazil, Nathalia Močivuna grew up in a family with diverse cultural roots, including Croatian ancestry on her mother’s side. As a child, she took part in activities at her local Croatian club. But after her grandfather Cosmo, the son of Croatian immigrants, passed away in 2005, that connection became less present in her everyday life.
Years later, the desire to reconnect with her heritage took her to Croatia. In 2014, Nathalia moved to Zagreb to learn Croatian and pursue a bachelor’s degree in engineering at the University of Zagreb. Living there gave her the opportunity to discover the language, culture, and homeland of her Dalmatian great-grandparents, Kuzma and Ivka. She found a sense of belonging in the warm welcome she received from the Croatian people, and in 2015, she obtained Croatian citizenship by descent.
While living in Zagreb, Nathalia began helping other members of the Croatian diaspora navigate their own citizenship applications. Her own experience gave her an understanding of both the practical challenges and the personal significance of the process. As more people sought her help, this work developed into a business, and in 2016, she formally began offering her services.
In 2018, Nathalia moved to Switzerland with her Croatian husband, carrying with her the sense of belonging she had found in Croatia. As she continued to build Salona Consulting, she wanted others to have the opportunity to experience what reconnecting had meant to her: discovering the places behind family stories and feeling at home in their ancestral homeland.
Today, Nathalia leads Salona Consulting from Lucerne, Switzerland. Fluent in Croatian, English, Portuguese, and Spanish, she brings her own experience of reconnecting with Croatia to her work. Her mission is to help other families make Croatia part of their own story – and keep that connection alive for generations to come.

Making Croatian heritage easier to rediscover
